Breathe
Breathe is a depiction of inhalation/exhalation.
Plants give us oxygen and themselves have respiratory cycles.
When we notice the rise and fall of our breath we relax.
Breathing becomes a simple way to cognise our reliance on nature.
Breathe is an expression of this union rendered on Fig bark-cloth (Llanchama) from the Amazon rainforest aka 'The Lungs of the World'.
The unconscious act of breathing portrayed as chains of foliage dilates boundaries linking plant and animal attributes.
Harvested traditionally this llanchama has been painted, embroidered and framed with repurposed Matai.
